Macchia Valfortore e i Macchiaroli

 
Storia emigrazione

Between 1881 and 1910, around 1,000 people from this village emigrated to the Americas, in particular Brazil and Argentina, after 1918, many people also went to the USA and to Canada. In 1952, following the confiscation of fertile land in order to build the dam and the lake of Fortore, people began emigrating to Europe, in particular to Switzerland, Australia and the more industrialized Italian cities.


Eventi emigrazione

In 1996 a photographic exhibition was organized base on the history of emigration in Macchia Valfortore.
