The new website for the “Molisani nel Mondo” is a project born of theProvincia di Campobasso, along with the scientific collaboration of the University of Molise. The idea of this great new “bridge” which links the region of Molise to the thousand of the natives of Molise living in other countries in the world was promoted by Giuseppe Chiappini, the Assessor responsabile for “I Molisani nel Mondo”, and derives not only from the knowledge that natives of Molise living abroad constitute an important resource for the promotion and development of the cultural, environmental and productive patrimony of the region, but also from the assertion that the new generations who by this time are totally integrated into foreign countries, are showing an ever increasing desire to go back to their roots.

For this reason, the informatic “network” was considered the most suitable means of constant communication between Molise and the various communities who have been living for a long time in different parts of the world.

Considering therefore, the requests of those who had previously set up similar initiatives and along with the suggestions and advice of experts (such as members of the “Centro Studi sui Molisani nel Mondo”) who willingly gave their assistance for a common cultural cause, a research group from the University of Molise, coordinated by Professors Antonio Antonio Minguzzi and Roberto Parisi and made up of young post graduates knowledgeable on the subject (Giuseppe Lamelza, Giuseppe Marotta, Giuseppe Nardone, Cristina Gabriela Rivera, Annalisa Rossi, Loris Scalpellino, Oscar Scurti, Eugenio Pasquariello, Lucia Terlizzi) and with the technical and organizational support of the “Servizio Sistemi Informativi of the “Provincia” (Manager Rag.Capo B. Casolino, responsible Dott. Raffaele Malatesta), created an instrument of cultural and touristic interest, which has at the same time, the objective of providing on-line services of every kind (operative support and contacts companies and people and so on).

A website representing therefore, a direct link with one’s own place of origin, like a sort of “guide”, able to lead any user towards the re-discovery of his own historical identity through the rich artistic, environmental and productive patrimony of the Region aimed in particular at stimulating further and more profitable relations of cultural exchange among the young generation by means of a multilingual version of the front cover (English and Spanish)

The achievement of this multi-medial and interactive site is moreover, geared towards the catering for tourism or towards the achievement of a correct territorial development policy.

The website is structured around several significant thematic frameworks (Man and Places, Sounds and Words, Customs and Tastes, Destinations and Routes) and offers specific itineraries based on the different nature of the sources of information collected. Voices and journeys back in the time (biographies, oral sources, diaries, postcards, etc.), Sounds and words (texts and popular music scores, terms and expressions in local dialects), Yesterday and Today / Ancient and New (places and scenery back in time, places and scenery of today - Archeology, Architecture and Art), Cults and Festivities (processional journey linked to religion, season or lay festivities connected to historical events, fair, ancient and modern productive and commercial itineraries), From the field to the table (typical local products based on wine and food culture), Books and Stories (Bibliographies for each sector of interest, fairy tales, reviews).

The website is easy to consult, set up to offer services and advice for everyone, even at the touch of a finger but at the same time it cares about its historical content and is available to everyone (from the learned to learning, from past generation to present ones) and above all it is a “work in progress”.

In conclusion, the website is a privileged route for free access to the World of the Molisani and their “homelands”.
